Could you be our
Group Chair?
We're looking for a local person to help guide our Scout Group into the future
The 9th Formby Scout Group has been serving young people in this community for many years, giving children and young people the skills, confidence and adventures that last a lifetime. To keep doing this well, we need someone to step up as Chair of our Trustee Board.
This isn't an operational role — you won't be running activities or wearing a uniform. It's a governance role: helping to make sure our Group is well-run, financially sound, and set up to thrive for years to come.
- Chairing the Trustee Board meetings (around 4–6 per year)
- Helping the Board make key decisions about the Group's future
- Supporting and working alongside the Group's Lead Volunteer
- Ensuring the Group meets its obligations as a registered charity
- Acting as a point of contact for the District and Scouts HQ
- Helping recruit and welcome new Trustees to the Board
Leadership experience welcome — Scout experience not required If you've chaired a committee, managed a team, sat on a board, or simply have a calm head and good judgement, those skills translate directly. We have an experienced Lead Volunteer and a supportive team around you — you won't be doing this alone.
Full induction, training and ongoing support are available. The role is rewarding, manageable, and makes a genuine difference to local young people.
